Basic Job Description

Royal Palms Baptist Church (RPBC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a senior pastor to provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to our congregation.  The desired candidate will have a passion for sharing the gospel and serving our diverse community, of children, families and senior adults, and a willingness to engage in the challenges of our urban environment.  As the senior pastor, he will be responsible for providing biblical teaching and pastoral care, casting a vision, overseeing church administration, and fostering a culture of unity, discipleship, and outreach. 

Our current church team includes:

  • Full Time:  Children’s Minister

  • Part Time:  Associate Pastor, Youth Minister, Preschool Coordinator, Worship Director, Office Administrator. 

 

We desire a senior pastor who will love our community, love our city and shepherd the flock God has for him here.  Our congregation has been actively praying for the man God has called to this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Time set aside for prayer, Bible study, and vision casting

  • Preaching and teaching sound biblical doctrine in a relevant and engaging manner

  • Providing pastoral care and counseling to individuals and families in need

  • Providing leadership and oversight to church staff and volunteers

  • Collaborating with church leaders to develop and implement outreach strategies to the local community and around the world through the Cooperative Program

  • Encouraging and supporting the spiritual growth and discipleship of the congregation

  • Maintaining communication and relationships with other churches, local association, state convention and leaders in the community

  • Attending conferences, workshops, and other training opportunities to continue personal and professional development

Desired Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of ministerial experience, preferably as a lead pastor or associate pastor in a Southern Baptist church

  • A master’s degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary

  • A strong commitment to biblical doctrine and theology as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message, as well as a passion for evangelism and outreach.

  • A heart for serving and caring for people from all walks of life

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with experience in stewardship of church finances and managing staff and volunteers

  • A strong sense of calling to pastoral ministry and a commitment to personal and spiritual growth
